Women's History Month Spotlight: Shannon Bedsaul

We are so pleased to introduce our new Assistant Contractor, Shannon Bedsaul! Shannon was born and raised in Vicksburg, Mississippi. She was born Shannon Cary by her loving parents, Garland and Margaret Cary. She loves writing, singing, building things, and being outside. When she turned 50, she decided to start volunteering for Starkville Area Habitat for Humanity. This was time for her to shake up her busy weeks, which brought a sense of sanctuary into her life.

When asked who is someone in her life that inspires her, Shannon immediately describes her sister. "She stepped in as a mother figure for me when our mother died when I was 16." She describes her sister as being someone who is always looking to lend a hand for others, even when she is in the midst of her own woes.

Shannon is writing a novel, her first book is already almost complete. Compass: Compulsion Book 1 is about two people and their struggle with control. Though life tends to get in the way, the two lovers always seem to find their way back to each other.

When asked what she wished more people understood about being a woman, she said,

"I wish more people would understand that being a woman is difficult in this world and to remain a lady/woman without carrying resentment and anger inside of you is very hard.  Women are underestimated in every facet of their lives, and I just pray a day will come when that changes. If it was not for the patience and grace that GOD has placed inside of me, I am not sure how I would manage each day."
